I've always been a goalsetter.  Want that car - save this much; want that life - work harder, save more; want that job - work hard and you'll show them you deserve it.  Seems to have worked out ok for me - but am I any happier because of those goals?  NO.  Can I look at life now and know it's made my current life easier - sure.  My opinion - don't stop setting goals but keep them set at a reasonable, achievable level.  Raise them for motivation if you must but don't let them be the determining factor of whether you are a failure or not.  We learn through failure and change.  Consider what the real motivation for that goal is - nicer car, bigger house - if it is to keep up with the neighbors maybe we should examine ourselves.  Consider if achieving our goals will make us happy or if the true goal is having the people we love around us...

I'm interested in your opinion of this article....
