Anyone been to the market lately? Gas pump maybe? Unless you have just landed from outer space, then you have most certainly felt the gut wrenching pain at the pump, or even worse, at the market. Gas prices have reached an all time high here in the continental U.S. Groceries have also reached unbelievable rate. It seems as if the sting of the times has muffed the real pain that we as a society are facing. Has anyone stopped and thought about how difficult if not impossible it is, to live at the current minimum wage rate? Federal minimum wage rates are currently at $5.85 per hour. That means that if you have a minimum wage job, as do a lot of Americans today, your bi-weekly income is roughly $470 BEFORE taxes. Now, fortunately I do not have to operate at that rate. Yet even though I have a good job with a good income, I find myself cringing at the pump or at the supermarket. We're all feeling it, but who is doing what to change it? The exiting Bush administration, seems to have no interest in aiding this matter. Oh yes, I'm sorry there were TALKS of nixing the federal gas tax for the duration of the summer. Well.....? As of today the national gas average is $4. a gallon. A loaf of bread averages between $1.69 and $2.50 depending on the store and the name of the product. Yet no one seems to know what to do about it. "Oh it'll level off soon", or "this will go away after Bush is out", are some of the pitiful lines of acceptance I have heard muttered in recent conversation. Well folks, I have some bad news. No. That couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, the Bush administration does in fact have their "hands in the cookie jar" . But not as much as you might think. China, Russia and the rest of the emerging countries of the world are part of the culprit too. China's use of fossil fuel has almost tripled over the past decade. Russia is a close second. When we talk or hear about the modern west, that is generally referred to as the lifestyle you and I live. Now lets examine that for just a minute. Lets say you're hungry and you have $10 to burn. You go to the local drive through. You order a burger and fries and a drink. When you pay for that meal, you typically receive 1 paper bag containing a burger wrapped in paper, or in a box, a box of fries and a paper cup full of you drink of choice. So now that you have your fat on, lets look at how much energy you have just consumed. Stay with me here. Think about the energy took to make that burger. The energy it took to make all the paper and plastic goods so that the food chain of your choice can safely give it to you. And not to forget the amount of fuel you consume going to and from the store. Now, I'm not one of those green peace folks, but even I can see a huge problem down the road. This fast paced, "convenience" lifestyle is catching on all over the globe. And how could it not. Not to say that the rest of the world is trying to be like us, but come on. We as the American society today have created a lifestyle that is in fact almost as addictive as heroin. Think about it. At almost any given time in a 24 hour period, one can go to the store, online and get just about anything desired. Everything is so readily available, that it's almost impossible to not drive down the street to bla-mart and get whatever your heart desires. We have become so addicted to convenience that, personally I see no end to the problem. Imagine for just a minute that we might have to get rid of our huge suv's and trucks. That in order to get to work you have to car pool or worse, rely on public transportation. (now in other metro areas other than okc, this is not a huge issue). Pretty scary huh. Just think about how it would inconvenience you to have to rely on others to get somewhere. Now in my opinion, in a world of ipods, iphones, value meals, and the rest of the convenient lifestyle we have built and sold all over the world, this process is not going to change. Try explaining to any soccer mom driving alone in a Yukon, that she can get her family to the same places in something a bit more fuel efficient, and produces less emissions. Yea. Right. That's not cool looking". In our world of Starbucks, bottled water, and huge expensive neighborhoods full of families( living way beyond their means statistically) you actually think we can convince these people to try and convert? We have done this to ourselves. We have taken in what the media has told us is status quo. We see on television and on billboards exactly what the men behind the curtain want you to see. A world full of self indulging gadgets and useless other crap. Think about it. What better way to control a society, than to distract them with a market full of gadgets and things to keep your mind off whats going on around you. The last thing the the people who own the oil company's, the banks, and yes the federal government, want is a well informed, completely capable of critical thinking society. Don't mind the men behind the curtain. Enjoy your $4.00 a gallon gas. Eat another stuffed burrito and watch some news on Fox. I'm sure our leaders are hard at work trying to figure out how the hell a person making minimum wage is going to pay bills.
I leave you with a quote from the movie "Network" 1976
I don't have to tell you things are bad, everybody knows things are bad. The dollar buys a nickels worth. Banks are going bust. Shop keepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know that the air is unfit to breath, and our food is unfit to eat. We sit and watch our tv's while some local news caster tells us today there were 15 homicides and 63 violent crimes, as if thats the way its supposed to be. We know things are bad, worse than bad. There crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy. So we don't go out anymore. We sit in our house and slowly the world we live in becomes smaller and all we say is "please at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my ipod and my internet and I wont say anything. Just leave us alone. Well I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest, I don't want you to riot, I don't want you to write to your congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the inflation, Al queda, and the crime in the street. All I know is first you've got to get MAD. You've gotta say, " I'm a human being Damnit! My Life has Value!
Wake up America. This situation we are in is a part of the plan.

This weekend I happen to stumble across a very surreal realization. As time has progressed in the history of humans, one factor that never seems to go away, is the search for our creator, our center, our purpose, and so on. I would venture to guess that in the disparity of these strange times we live in, one can easily understand the want and desire to know what or where we came from. I think all of us can agree that the Christians have proven without a doubt, that they have no more clue than a stump of the how, why and the who. In fact, it is more clear now than ever before, that it highly likely that Christ never even existed. Don't get your bibles out yet...I'm not here to attack the Christians. In truth, hell we need their help this time. There is a sickness spreading itself across the globe today. This sickness you ask? Have a look at Tom Cruise. Every since Tommy boy jumped up and down on Opera's couch, Scientology has poked out its greedy little head. If you haven't kept up with this, like me, you better tune in. This facade, that is dwindling away people's bank accounts, separating families, is starting to get a bit out of control. Although Scientology's complicated finances make a total estimate difficult, records on file at the IRS indicate that in the early 1990s the church was earning about $300 million a year from auditing fees, the sale of Scientology literature and recordings, management services and the franchising of its philosophy. Church officials said those figures were higher than actual earnings. Now that may not bother some of you, but it scares the bejesus out of me. This "occult like" cash machine, has gained over a billion followers worldwide. They (scientologists) have somehow sold people that if you give them CASH they can provide you with answers. OK. I'm not one of the most educated folks around, but this I know. Humans have been here around 100,000 years or so. In that span, NO ONE, EVER, has ever been able to produce factual evidence that shows any kind of evidence of a creator. We know that Earth, our home, is where our species has thrived. Beyond that, there is no substantial evidence of our origin. It really scares me that our society has become so dumbfounded in the search "of" that some of us have actually chewed off this gigantic piece of Scientology lie and accepted it as truth. Now, I'm not small minded enough to think that we are the only form of life in all of the universe, but this line of jargon from a lame drunken science fiction writer now stamped as an official religion? Are we so far gone intellectually, that we actually think that digging into our wallets and handing over our hard earned cash is going to some how provide answers? Strange days have found us.
