New life at Hester Ranch
We now have 6 calves on the ground, including a set of twins born today. We have had only a few minor setbacks. One calf was spooked by the gator and ran like the wind, through fences and into other pastures. We looked everywhere and couldn't find it. The next day our neighbors to the north called and told us where it was. We found it but spooked it again and off it went. This was about a 2 hour process but finally mom and baby are together. Today we had a set of twins but didn't know about the second one right away. Sometimes, with twins, the mother will have a baby and then have another in a different part of the pasture and then she will forget about the first one. We were able to get the mom and both babies in the corral and now we are just waiting to see if the "lost" baby has nursed. I am tired.

Great pics Dee. I enjoyed your rendition of life at the ranch during this time of year, and the description of the intellect of the smart cow. Hope you get some rest. Love Cori

Rest, what is that? We lost one of the twins today and yesterday we had to put Pepper to sleep. Very sad couple of days.
